Meeting the need: A funding analysis of New Zealand’s Needs Assessment and Service Coordination providers (NASCs)
September 23, 2024
A report for NZNASCA.
Needs Assessment and Service Coordination providers (NASCs) play a critical role in helping over 90 percent of New Zealand’s disability community access support. This report, commissioned by NZNASCA, examines the trends in NASC funding and finds that the NASCs have been chronically underfunded while facing increasing client complexity and expectations to deliver in line with the principles of Enabling Good Lives (EGL).Recent uplifts have failed to address the funding shortfall and the NASCs have exhausted opportunities for efficiency improvements, highlighting the urgency of increased funding to support timely and high quality services for disabled people and their families
