About the NZIER Ed Hearnshaw Environmental Economics Award
The NZIER Ed Hearnshaw Environmental Economics Award was established in 2024 by the Hearnshaw family and NZIER to recognise and support outstanding contributions to environmental economics and its application in New Zealand.
The Award honours the memory of Ed Hearnshaw, a talented environmental economist who died in a tramping accident in 2020.

This Award of $4,000 has been inaugurated, organised, and underwritten by the Hearnshaw Family and the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research.
