Nam Bui
Economist
Nam joined NZIER in June 2025. Nam has expertise in research, economic modelling, and data analysis. He works across projects in regional development, environmental policy, and strategic planning, with a strong focus on using data to support evidence-based decision-making in the public and private sectors.
Before joining NZIER, Nam was a Research & Insights Analyst at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, where he led survey analysis and data automation to inform strategy. He also worked at Market Economics Ltd on regional and environmental policy projects and as a Research Fellow at the University of Auckland, contributing to studies on big data, health, and pandemic response. Nam holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Auckland, a Master’s in Environmental Management and Economics from the University of Gothenburg, and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics-Informatics from the University of Pedagogy in Vietnam.
