Food and fibre workforce forecasts

The Ministry for Primary Industries commissioned NZIER to model three possible  future scenarios of the food and fibre workforce using our TERM-NZ computable general equilibrium (CGE) model:

1. Future 1 - Business as usual

2. Future 2 - More technolgy

3. Future 3 - Transformation

All three scenarios point toward the need to improve skills within the sectors to support greater productivity and manage complexity. Highly skilled workers will be required to support the expected growth of technology in the next decade, and there is a trend towards more highly skilled people within the food and fibre sector.
