
NZIER produces a range of material that is suitable for the teaching of economics in schools. This material is normally only available to members of NZIER (annual cost of $1,700).
As schools’ requirements differ from those of our ordinary members, NZIER offers the following material to schools at discounted prices:
Quarterly Predictions – QP contains detailed and comprehensive forecasts for the New Zealand economy. We believe that the unbiased analysis in Quarterly Predictions sets a standard for forecasting in New Zealand.
Quarterly Survey of Business Opinion – QSBO is New Zealand’s longest running and most comprehensive business confidence survey. The resulting indicators are a valuable tool for assessing the current state of the economy, and forecasting short term economic activity.
These publications are made available to schools as either an annual subscription (one hard copy publication or emailed PDF per quarter), or as a class set of 30 hard copy publications for a single quarter. Prices for these publication options are shown in the table below:

NZIER hosts numerous school visits each year. In these visits, students are given an overview of the work carried out at the institute, and current economic issues are discussed. There is also some discussion of the qualifications necessary to become an economist.
