The NZIER Economics Award promotes and recognises excellence in economics of benefit to New Zealand. The objectives of the award are to reward a specific or a general contribution in the fields of applied economics, or economic dissemination, or economic policy making affecting New Zealand and to recognise and encourage excellence in those areas of economics that relate to New Zealand’s national interests.
The winner of the 2008 Award will receive a $10,000 travel voucher and $5,000 associated spending money, plus a framed citation and award trophy.
