NZIER Economics Award


The Economics Award for 2010 was presented to Dr Suzi Kerr at the NZIER AGM on 24 August 2010. Dr Kerr received a $10,000 travel voucher, $5,000 associated spending money, a framed citation and an award trophy.

NZIER congratulates Suzi on her achievement and thanks the members of the independent Awarding Panel: 

Dr John McDermott (nominee of the Governor of the Reserve Bank), Ms Mary Hedges (President of the NZ Association of Economists), Mr Colin Lynch (nominee of the Secretary to the Treasury), Dr Arthur Grimes (academic representative), Sir John Anderson (business representative), and Mr Michael Walls (ex-officio Chair of the Awarding Panel).

Background

The NZIER Economics Award promotes and recognises excellence in economics of benefit to New Zealand.

The winner of the award is selected by an independent panel that includes the Governor of the Reserve Bank, President of the NZAE and the Secretary for Treasury (or their nominees), and one representative each from the academic and business communities.
