NZIER's Public Good Role

NZIER's role extends beyond consulting and forecasting to conducting and promoting research into economic problems affecting New Zealand, and advancing understanding of economic issues.

Our public good work includes:

• Sponsoring the NZIER Economics Award for excellence in economics.
• Publishing reports on topics of public interest.
• Speaking on topics of economic importance at conferences.
• Publishing the Consensus Forecasts, which average the forecasts produced by a variety of organisations (including NZIER) and provide a useful benchmark.
• Hosting school visits to interest students in economics as a subject and a profession.
