Patrick joined NZIER in January 2007 and has interests in tax, social policy and economic development.  Patrick has worked as a senior analyst for both the New Zealand Treasury and the Ministry of Economic Development and has served as an economic development advisor to a senior Cabinet Minister.

Patrick’s PhD evaluated the Working for Families reforms and the design of family and employment tax credits in the tax benefit system. His Masters thesis was on state intervention into New Zealand’s wool industry.
